The challenge with electric vehicles is that the batteries store too little energy per unit weight. Furthermore, because electric vehicle batteries are expensive and economies of scale haven't yet been achieved, they are relatively expensive to purchase. As for operating costs, some are more expensive than cars, while others are only one-third the cost. This depends primarily on the battery lifespan and local oil and electricity prices. Currently, battery capacity is insufficient, and the range is insufficient for all-weather use.
